The Abuja Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday, December 11, 2025, arraigned the Commandant of the Nigeria Peace Corps, Dickson Akon, and the Corps’ Director of Finance, Omolola Aminat Ahmed, before Justice H.B. Yusuf of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Abuja.
The duo was brought before the court on a two-count charge bordering on criminal misappropriation of funds allocated to the Corps.
According to the first count, Akon and Ahmed allegedly conspired in 2024, within the FCT, to engage in criminal misappropriation—an offence punishable under Section 96 of the Penal Code.
The second count alleges that the defendants dishonestly converted N46 million out of N60 million earmarked for a contract to supply badges for the Corps.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty when the charges were read.
Following their pleas, prosecuting counsel Khalid Sanusi requested a date for the commencement of trial. Justice Yusuf adjourned proceedings to February 25, 2026.
The judge also granted each defendant bail in the sum of N5 million, with one surety in like amount. The sureties must be reputable individuals residing in Abuja.
