A mutiny has erupted within the Edo State Security Corps, with personnel staging a protest against their leadership and demanding the dismissal of their commander, Mr. Ibadin.
The unrest, as observed by WorldClass247News, has raised serious concerns over the state’s security preparedness under the administration of Senator Monday Okpebholo.
Members of the newly inaugurated security outfit have accused the government of failing to implement adequate security measures to protect the state.
Their grievances center on poor working conditions, lack of clear operational strategies, and alleged incompetence in leadership.
In response, the Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly condemned the situation, blaming the Okpebholo-led government for its inability to effectively manage security affairs.
“This protest, which could have been prevented, exposes a significant failure in governance,” the PDP stated in a press release signed by its Publicity Secretary, Chris Osa Nehikhare.
“The administration’s lack of foresight and poor handling of security matters are putting the lives and property of Edo people at risk.”
The opposition party has called on the state government to swiftly address the demands of the security personnel and prevent further destabilization. It warned that ignoring the crisis could lead to a breakdown in law and order, making Edo State more vulnerable to criminal activities.
Security experts have expressed concern that internal unrest within the security apparatus could undermine efforts to tackle crime in the state. Meanwhile, residents are anxiously watching how the government will respond to the unfolding crisis.
As tensions rise, all eyes are on Senator Okpebholo’s administration to see whether it will act decisively to resolve the standoff and restore confidence in the state’s security operations.
