The Vice President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Damtien Larbli Tchintchibidja, has reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to gender equality and women’s leadership during a High-Level Meeting of the African Women Leaders Network (AWLN) Group of Friends to the United Nations.
The event, held on the sidelines of the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), coincided with the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, a landmark commitment to advancing women’s rights globally.
In her Goodwill Statement,Vice President Tchintchibidja emphasized that Beijing+30aligns with ECOWAS’ 50th anniversary, providing a unique opportunity to strengthen the organization’s advocacy for gender-inclusive development and security in West Africa.
A significant outcome of her participation was the ECOWAS Permanent Observer Mission to the UN, joining the AWLN Group of Friends in New York.
