The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has further consolidated its political dominance in Adamawa state after recording a comprehensive victory in the just-concluded local government elections, winning all 21 local government chairmanship seats and every councillorship position across the state’s 226 wards.

The landslide outcome, announced by the Chairman of the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC), Mohammed Umar, marks one of the most decisive electoral victories in the state’s recent political history.

Declaring the results at the ADSIEC headquarters in Yola after the completion of the collation exercise, Umar said the elections were successfully conducted in all parts of the state and concluded without major incidents.

According to him, the PDP emerged victorious in all chairmanship and councillorship contests across the 21 local government areas and 226 wards.

While confirming the party’s clean sweep, the electoral commission did not provide a breakdown of votes cast or the total voter turnout during the exercise.

The announcement attracted the presence of security personnel, election observers, representatives of political parties, and ADSIEC commissioners who monitored the final collation and declaration of results.

Speaking shortly after the announcement, Umar commended residents of Adamawa State for maintaining peace and order throughout the electoral process. He noted that the conduct of voters, election officials, and stakeholders contributed significantly to the successful completion of the exercise.

The ADSIEC chairman also acknowledged the role played by security agencies in safeguarding election materials and personnel, describing their contribution as vital to the smooth conduct of the polls.

Political observers say the outcome reinforces the PDP’s stronghold on Adamawa politics, extending its influence from the state level to the grassroots.

The victory effectively places all local government councils under the control of the ruling party, providing it with a formidable political structure ahead of future electoral contests.

While supporters of the PDP have celebrated the outcome as a reflection of the party’s popularity and grassroots acceptance, attention is expected to shift to governance and service delivery as the newly elected chairmen and councillors prepare to assume office.

The election results are also likely to shape political alignments within the state, with analysts predicting that the PDP’s dominance at the local government level could strengthen its position in future state and national elections.

For now, the sweeping victory signals the party’s continued influence in Adamawa State and underscores its ability to mobilize support across all 21 local government areas.
