Tragedy struck in Ilorin as the Kwara State Fire Service recovered the body of an unidentified man from the Asa River on Tuesday.
According to reports, officials from the Ministry of Environment discovered the body and promptly alerted the fire service.
Firefighters responded swiftly, retrieving the remains and handing them over to the Ministry for further investigation and identification.
Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, confirmed the incident and used the opportunity to urge residents to remain cautious near water bodies.
He particularly warned against sending young children to fetch water from wells or rivers, citing safety concerns.
The Ministry of Environment is currently working to identify the deceased and reach out to the victim’s family.
