Deaf students from Bauchi State have earned national recognition after securing third place at the just-concluded National Deaf Secondary School Championships held in Nasarawa State.
The students, representing the Special Education Center Yelwa, demonstrated remarkable talent, resilience, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament, earning praise from both spectators and officials.
Reacting to the achievement, the Bauchi State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Lawal Mohammed Rimin Zayam, lauded the students for their outstanding performance.
He described the success as a reflection of the state government’s unwavering commitment to inclusive education.
“This accomplishment underscores the truth that there is ability in every disability—a belief consistently championed by His Excellency, Governor Bala Mohammed,” Dr. Rimin Zayam stated.
The students’ performance has been hailed as a major milestone for special education in Bauchi State, inspiring renewed efforts to support and empower students with disabilities.
