The Adamawa State Police Command has launched a manhunt for armed kidnappers who abducted two Catholic priests, Reverend Father Mathew David Dusami of Yola Diocese and Reverend Father Abraham Samman of Jalingo Diocese.

According to a statement released on Sunday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the abduction occurred in the early hours of Saturday at the priests’ residence in Gwaida Malam, Numan Local Government Area.

The armed assailants were said to have stormed the house around 4:00 a.m. and forcibly took the clergymen to an unknown location.

Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, strongly condemned the attack, describing it as an unprovoked assault on religious leaders who play a crucial role in fostering peace within society.

In response, the police chief has deployed tactical teams and operational units to track down the kidnappers and ensure the safe rescue of the victims.

“The Adamawa State Police Command is making concerted efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice. We remain committed to safeguarding lives and resisting all forms of violent crime in the state,” CP Morris stated.

Authorities have urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement by providing any useful information that could aid the rescue operation.

The police have also provided a hotline—08065604764—for anyone with relevant information to assist in the ongoing investigation.
