The ECOWAS Resident Representative in Ghana, Ambassador Mohammed Lawan Gana, hosted a delegation from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Human Trafficking Secretariat (HTS) of Ghana’s Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection.
The meeting, held in Accra, was part of ongoing efforts by ECOWAS and IOM to implement a regional project aimed at enhancing the protection of human trafficking victims across ECOWAS Member States.
The initiative, as gathered by WorldClass247News, seeks to bolster national institutions, improving their ability to receive, care for, and reintegrate victims of trafficking.
Following the discussions, Ambassador Gana toured victim reception facilities to assess their conditions, identify key challenges, and outline priority needs before the full rollout of the project.
Currently being implemented in 12 ECOWAS Member States, the initiative is expected to significantly strengthen Ghana’s national systems for the care and protection of trafficking victims, ensuring comprehensive support for those affected.
