The Adamawa state government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening security through sustained collaboration with the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) to protect lives and property and maintain peace and public order across the state.
The Deputy Governor, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, stated this on Monday when she received officials of POWA, led by its state chairperson, Mrs Hauwa Kabir Umar, during a visit to her office at the Government House in Yola.
Farauta described the visit as timely and reassuring, saying it demonstrated the commitment of police officers’ wives to supporting their husbands and other personnel in the discharge of their responsibilities of combating insecurity
.
She commended the Commissioner of Police in the state, Kabir Umar, for his efforts in maintaining law and order, noting that the support of his wife and other members of POWA had also contributed to his success.
“We want to thank CP Kabir Umar because since he came to Adamawa, he has been doing a great job.
“The reason for him doing a great job is because he has a great woman behind him,” she said.
The Deputy Governor assured POWA that the state government would continue to support security agencies and their families, adding that government would continue to explore ways of improving the welfare of police officers’ wives.
According to her, the security of citizens remains a top priority of the administration, stressing that meaningful development cannot take place in an atmosphere of insecurity and chaos.
Farauta thanked the association for identifying with the state government and reaffirmed the administration’s readiness to partner with organisations contributing to peace, security and community development.
Earlier, the state chairperson of POWA, Mrs Hauwa Kabir Umar, who is also the wife of the Commissioner of Police, said the delegation was at the Government House to strengthen the relationship between the association and the state government.
Umar said the association was seeking the support, guidance and partnership of the government to enable it to better cater for the families of police officers who continue to make sacrifices in the service of the state and the nation.
She acknowledged the commitment of the Adamawa State Government to peace, security, women empowerment and community development, expressing confidence that stronger collaboration would improve the welfare of police families.
POWA is an association established to promote the welfare and well-being of police officers’ wives and their families while supporting initiatives that contribute to peace and community development.
