The deputy governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, has led a security operation against illegal mining activities in Amba community, Kokona local government area, resulting in the arrest of several foreign nationals and local miners.

The operation, conducted on Friday, targeted an illegal mining site where security personnel apprehended individuals suspected of engaging in unauthorized mining activities.

During the raid, authorities recovered suspected mineral resources packed in cartons, as well as various equipment allegedly used for the illegal mining operations. Items seized included CCTV cameras and other operational materials reportedly installed at the site to monitor and support the activities being carried out there.

The enforcement exercise, as gathered by WorldClass247News, is part of the Nasarawa state government’s continued efforts to curb illegal mining, protect the state’s mineral resources, and ensure compliance with mining laws and regulatory requirements.

Officials said the arrested suspects would be handed over to relevant security and regulatory agencies for further investigation. Those found culpable are expected to face appropriate legal action in line with existing laws.

The state government reiterated its commitment to protecting the state’s natural resources and promoting responsible mining practices.
