A political advocacy movement aimed at reshaping public perception of Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been launched ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The initiative, known as “The Presidency Project,” is being spearheaded by the Center for the Promotion of Peace and Unity in collaboration with the Asiwaju Tinubu Ambassadors and Friends for Good Governance and Better Nigeria.
In a statement issued to journalists in Taraba State, the group’s President General, Chief Dr. Lazarus Nwachukwu, described the project as a large-scale campaign designed to highlight the president’s leadership qualities and promote national unity.
Nwachukwu said the initiative is not primarily focused on securing electoral victory in 2027 but rather on showcasing what he described as the administration’s achievements and leadership capacity. He added that the campaign is expected to gain traction both locally and internationally.
He disclosed that the project was officially launched at the All Progressives Congress State Secretariat in Katsina State, where members of the group met with party officials.
The advocacy leader called on political stakeholders to ensure peaceful conduct during the 2027 elections, warning that electoral violence could further aggravate the nation’s challenges.
He attributed Nigeria’s security concerns to longstanding systemic issues, including years of underinvestment in security infrastructure, rather than the policies of the current administration, and stressed that terrorism and insurgency require collective national response.
As part of its activities, the group announced plans to roll out nationwide programmes, including a humanitarian initiative targeting 185,000 vulnerable Nigerians. The campaign is expected to extend to other states such as Kano State, the Federal Capital Territory, as well as international communities.
Reacting, the Katsina State Chairman of the APC, Dr. Bishir Gambo Saulawa, welcomed the initiative and raised concerns over what he described as misinformation about the administration, noting that the movement could help present the government’s record more positively.
Saulawa also commended President Tinubu’s policies, particularly in foreign affairs, and pledged the party’s support. He accepted his appointment as a national patron of the movement and assured the group of continued collaboration.
The Presidency Project is expected to embark on a nationwide tour in the coming weeks to build support and amplify its message ahead of the next election cycle.
