Bauchi APC Caucus Blocks Bala Mohammed’s Entry Amid Deepening Party Tensions

A major political development is unfolding within the All Progressives Congress (APC), as its Bauchi State caucus has reportedly drawn a firm line against moves to admit Governor Bala Mohammed into the party.

Investigations by WorldClass247News, revealed that the decision was reached during a high-level caucus meeting held behind closed doors in Abuja on Tuesday night—an engagement insiders describe as pivotal to shaping the party’s future in Bauchi State.

Speaking shortly after the meeting, Senator Sama’ila Dahuwa, who chairs the APC caucus in the state, disclosed that members unanimously opposed the proposed defection.

He said that following “extensive and frank deliberations,” the caucus resolved to “unequivocally reject” any attempt to admit the governor into the APC at this time.

According to Dahuwa, the decision reflects widespread concern among party stakeholders about the broader implications of such a political move.

Trust Deficit at the Core

Sources within the caucus point to a deep-rooted trust deficit as a central factor behind the rejection. Governor Mohammed’s past criticisms of President Bola Tinubu and the APC were cited as having strained relationships and raised doubts about his alignment with the party’s principles.

The caucus also highlighted the absence of any public apology or reconciliation effort, describing it as a critical gap that has yet to be addressed.

Additionally, lawmakers referenced previous statements attributed to the governor, which they believe undermined party unity and credibility—further complicating any potential integration.

Beyond issues of trust, the caucus warned that admitting the governor without proper consultation could destabilize the APC’s structure in Bauchi State.

Stakeholders expressed concern that such a move could weaken internal cohesion, alienate long-standing party loyalists, and disrupt strategic planning ahead of future elections.

“There must be broad consultation,” a source familiar with the deliberations told The Trumpet, stressing that decisions of this magnitude require consensus among key actors within the party.

Escalation to National Leadership

Multiple sources confirmed that the caucus is set to formally communicate its position to the APC national leadership, signaling that the issue may soon escalate beyond the state level.

This raises the possibility of friction between Bauchi stakeholders and the party’s central leadership, particularly if differing positions emerge on the matter.

Political analysts say the development underscores growing internal strains within the ruling party and highlights the complexities surrounding political defections in Nigeria.

While cross-party movements are often deployed as strategic tools for consolidating influence, the Bauchi scenario illustrates that such transitions are not always straightforward—especially when questions of trust, loyalty, and ideological compatibility come into play.

As Nigeria edges closer to another election cycle, the situation in Bauchi reinforces the importance of internal consensus in maintaining party stability and coherence.

For now, the message from the Bauchi APC caucus is clear: entry into the party is not automatic, and political alignment must be matched with trust, consultation, and shared values.
