The Adamawa State Police Command, in collaboration with local security outfits and critical stakeholders, has successfully dismantled a kidnappers’ hideout in Ngurore, Yola South Local Government Area.
The operation was aimed at curbing kidnapping activities and restoring security in the state, was said to have been launched as part of the Command’s intensified internal control measures.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, officers encountered resistance from the armed criminals during the raid.
The suspects, as made known by him, in a statement dished out to media practitioners on Monday, opened fire in an attempt to escape, but the security operatives returned fire, neutralizing one suspect while others fled.
A subsequent investigation, as announced by him, led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and five rounds of live ammunition from the scene.
The state Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, applauded the courage and professionalism of the officers involved in the operation.
He also called for increased collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the public to rid the state of criminal elements.
Efforts, according to the command, are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects, and further updates will be provided as investigations continue.
