The Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission has commenced medical screening for intending pilgrims in preparation for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Speaking on the development, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Mallam Abubakar Salihu, said the screening exercise is mandatory and includes full medical evaluations and the administration of essential vaccines.
He stressed that the health checks are necessary to ensure that all pilgrims are physically fit for the rigorous demands of the pilgrimage.
“We are fully committed to the welfare and safety of our pilgrims,” said Mallam Salihu. “We have put in place adequate arrangements to ensure the screening process is seamless and accessible in all zones of the state.”
Alongside the medical screening, the Commission has continued its weekly Hajj orientation programme, which is aimed at educating intending pilgrims on the rites, significance, and expected conduct during Hajj. The sessions are being conducted at designated centres across the state by Islamic scholars and Commission officials.
Meanwhile, Hajj schedule officers from all 21 local government areas, led by Alhaji Yau Gambo, have expressed appreciation for the proactive leadership of the Executive Secretary.
They commended the high level of coordination and the Commission’s timely preparations, describing them as a model for effective pilgrimage planning.
Hajj, one of the Five Pillars of Islam, is a religious obligation for all Muslims who are physically and financially able to undertake the journey. It represents spiritual purification and serves as a powerful symbol of equality, with pilgrims wearing identical white garments (Ihram) to emphasize unity and humility before God.
The pilgrimage also commemorates the devotion and sacrifices of Prophet Ibrahim, his wife Hajar, and their son Isma’il, reinforcing Islamic values of obedience, faith, and trust in God.
The Commission’s organized and people-focused approach has earned praise from stakeholders across Adamawa State. This success is further supported by the consistent backing of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, whose administration has continued to provide vital moral and financial support to ensure a successful Hajj operation.
With preparations in full swing, the strong collaboration between the Commission and the state government is expected to deliver a safe, smooth, and spiritually rewarding pilgrimage for all Adamawa pilgrims.
