Traditional rulers across Yobe State have commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for his renewed efforts to strengthen community security and curb rising criminal activities in the state.
The endorsement came from the Emirs of Fika, Gudi, Potiskum, and Fune during a visit by members of the State’s Special Committee on the Stabilization of Security Situation a committee recently established by Governor Buni to deepen collaboration with traditional institutions in addressing insecurity.
Led by the Special Adviser on Religious Affairs, Ustaz Baba Gana M. Kyari, the committee is touring all 14 Emirate Councils in Yobe to sensitize traditional rulers on proactive strategies for crime prevention, peacebuilding, and intelligence sharing at the grassroots.
During the latest phase of the tour, which covered the Zone B Senatorial District on Sunday, the royal fathers praised Governor Buni’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, describing the initiative as both “timely and visionary.”
“Governor Buni has once again demonstrated strong leadership and genuine concern for the safety of our people,” one of the Emirs said. “We assure him of our total support and cooperation to ensure this initiative succeeds.”
Speaking during the visit, Ustaz Kyari revealed that the committee has so far visited 13 out of the 14 Emirate Councils, gathering valuable insights and recommendations from community leaders to improve local security coordination across the state.
He added that the committee’s findings will be compiled into a comprehensive report containing actionable measures to further consolidate peace and stability in Yobe State.
“This initiative reflects Governor Buni’s inclusive governance approach — one that recognizes the indispensable role of traditional rulers in sustaining peace and security,” Ustaz Kyari emphasized.
