The Yobe State Government has ordered an immediate suspension of all new contract staff recruitment across ministries, departments and agencies, following the approval of Governor Mai Mala Buni.
The directive was issued in a circular signed by the Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa Shehu, who stated that no government office is permitted to process or engage additional contract staff under the current workforce structure.
According to the circular, existing contract workers will be allowed to serve out their current terms, but their appointments will not be renewed, extended or replaced once they expire.
The government noted that the suspension does not apply to a limited category of essential professionals whose services are critical to state operations.
These include medical doctors, other key health workers, expatriate experts and highly specialized technical personnel. Even in such cases, MDAs must provide strong justification and seek approval from the Office of the Head of Service before any recruitment can be considered.
All ministries, departments and agencies were directed to strictly adhere to the new guidelines, with a warning that any violation will be treated as a breach of public service regulations.
The government described the move as part of broader administrative reforms designed to strengthen discipline, enhance efficiency and improve long-term personnel planning within the Yobe State Civil Service.
The announcement m, as observed by the WorldXlass247News, was conveyed by Malam Ibrahim M. Nura, Special Assistant on Information and Communication to the Executive Chairman, Potiskum Local Government Area.
