Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old woman, identified as Jamila Ishiaku, for allegedly scalding a pregnant woman with hot water while she was in labor.
The incident reportedly took place in Dubeli, Yola North local government council following a disagreement between the suspect and the victim, who is also her sister-in-law.
Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer, Nguroje, stated that the suspect is currently in custody and will face legal consequences.
He urged residents to avoid taking the law into their own hands and to report disputes to the authorities.
Family members of the victim have called for justice, with her husband, Gambo Dahiru, expressing deep distress over his wife’s condition. “She has been in pain and crying uncontrollably. I just want justice for her,” he said.
The police have assured that investigations are ongoing and that the suspect will be prosecuted accordingly.
