The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with a renewed outbreak of communal violence in Lamurde Local Government Area, which allegedly claimed the lives of three women.
The police said the incident occurred on Friday, January 3, 2026, when the victims were reportedly attacked and killed while working on their farm near Tigno village.
Authorities believe the attack is linked to the long-standing conflict between the Bachama and Chobo communities, a dispute that has previously resulted in the loss of lives and widespread destruction of property in the area.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed that the suspects William Joshua, aged 30, and Ezekiel Luka, aged 23, both residents of Tigno village were arrested following credible intelligence.
He said preliminary investigations led to the recovery of 29 rounds of live ammunition, one magazine for an AK-47 rifle, ₦90,000 in cash, and other items suspected to be connected to the crime.
The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, appealed to residents of the area to remain calm, assuring them that the Command is determined to ensure that all those responsible for the violence are brought to justice.
“The suspects are currently in custody and are cooperating with investigators as efforts continue to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the police said.
The Command added that more details would be made available as investigations continue.
