Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 3 Division and the Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace, have recovered cache of arms and ammunition during a raid on a suspected bandits’ hideout in Barkin Ladi local government council of Plateau State.
The operation, carried out in Rawaya Village near Kazok, followed credible intelligence reports indicating that bandits were stockpiling weapons in the area.
According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of Operation Enduring Peace, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, the troops swiftly moved to the location and conducted a thorough search.
Although the main suspect escaped before the troops’ arrival, the raid led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, one G3 rifle, a revolver pistol, four AK-47 magazines, three G3 magazines, 1,198 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, four rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition, three mobile phones, and other miscellaneous items.
Major Zhakom confirmed that the recovered weapons have been secured for further investigation, adding that efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspect and his accomplices.
He reiterated the commitment of Operation Enduring Peace to intensifying its offensive against criminal groups across Plateau State, assuring residents of continued operations to safeguard lives and property in the region.
