shocking case of domestic violence has emerged from Farawa Quarters in Kano State, where police have arrested an 18-year-old housewife, Saidat Jibril, for allegedly killing her husband, 30-year-old Salisu Idris, during a violent confrontation in the early hours of Monday, May 6.
According to a statement released by the spokesperson of the Kano State Police Command, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the incident occurred around 12:35 a.m. and was reported after neighbors heard loud shouting from the couple’s home.
Responding swiftly, officers deployed by the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, arrived at the scene to find Idris suffering from a severe throat wound, reportedly inflicted with a knife during the altercation. He was rushed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.
Saidat Jibril was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Criminal Investigation Department’s Homicide Section. Police say she will be charged with culpable homicide.
Condemning the incident, Bakori reaffirmed the Command’s firm stance against domestic violence and criminal acts, promising a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served.
