The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that it will carry out the loading of a newly installed 300MVA 330/132/33kV power transformer at its Katampe 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
According to the company, the maintenance exercise is scheduled to take place between 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. and will involve the loading of the new transformer into service.
TCN said the 30-minute operation will require a temporary reduction in bulk power supply from the Katampe substation, resulting in a brief disruption of electricity supply to some parts of the Federal Capital Territory.
As a result, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to receive and distribute power to Maitama, Mpape, and parts of Jahi during the maintenance period.
The company expressed regret over the temporary inconvenience and appealed to affected electricity consumers for understanding as it works to strengthen the transmission network.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, on Friday.
