The Taraba State Government has dismissed as misleading a report published in one of the online newspaper alleging that state sponsored pilgrims were stranded in Amman, Jordan, due to corrupt practices.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Christian Religious Matters, Very Rev. Fr. Sunday Patrick Muke. the government clarified that the pilgrimage was well-organized, with some pilgrims receiving visas to Jordan through the Nigerian Embassy while others proceeded directly to Israel.
“The Taraba State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has ensured that all approved benefits for the pilgrims were fully implemented.
Every necessary provision was made to guarantee their welfare and a successful spiritual experience,” the statement read.
Rev. Fr. Muke further stated that all pilgrims had a fulfilling journey, visiting various holy sites and receiving their certificates upon completion. Concerns regarding visa disparities were addressed, and he urged the public to disregard any claims of abandonment.
“A simple check on their social media handles confirms that the pilgrims had a rewarding experience,” he added.
Emphasizing that “no pilgrim was abandoned”, the state government reaffirmed its commitment to the well-being of its citizens and called for responsible reporting to avoid unnecessary panic.
