The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has sealed a strategic partnership with U.S.-based Naija Disruptors LLC to enhance sports media coverage, promote youth development, and amplify Nigeria’s sports narratives on a global scale.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the SWAN National Secretariat in Abuja, with SWAN President, Isaiah Benjamin emphasizing the importance of high-level collaboration in driving sports development through sustained media engagement.
Represented by SWAN Secretary-General, Ikenna Okonkwo, Benjamin expressed optimism that the partnership would help Nigerian sports regain its prominence internationally.
“This collaboration signifies SWAN’s commitment to elevating Nigerian sports and providing a platform to showcase the immense talent and potential within our nation.
By partnering with Naija Disruptors, we can connect with a global audience and create meaningful initiatives that will contribute to the growth of sports in Nigeria.”Benjamin stated.
Founder and CEO of the partner organization, Chuka Erike, also highlighted the impact of the collaboration, saying, “We are excited to partner with SWAN to tell compelling Nigerian sports stories that resonate globally.
Stressing that, “this partnership is an opportunity to empower youth, celebrate our sports history, and promote innovative projects like flag football and NFL Africa to a wider audience.”
The partnership, as stated in the release, is expected to strengthen SWAN’s international presence while advancing youth sports development and promoting underrepresented sports.
SWAN reaffirmed its commitment to working with both government and private institutions to expand opportunities in Nigerian sports through strategic media collaborations.
