The Rivers State Police Command has arrested four additional kidnapping suspects in an intensive 72-hour operation carried out by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU).
According to intelligence sources, the latest arrests follow an earlier crackdown that led to the apprehension of five other suspects and the recovery of arms and ammunition linked to multiple kidnapping incidents across the state.
The newly arrested individuals as listed in a statement issued out to Journalists by the command on Wednesday, were identified as Abubakar Mohammed, Mohammed Ori, Mohammadu Ahmad, and Usman Abubakar.
According to the statement, oolice sources revealed that the suspects have confessed to their involvement in multiple kidnappings across Isiokpo, Elele, Rumuji, and the Airport Road general area.
“During the operation, security operatives recovered two AK-47 rifles and two AK-47 magazines from the suspects. Authorities confirmed that the arrested individuals are cooperating with investigators and providing intelligence that could lead to further arrests and the recovery of additional weapons,” the statement read.
The Rivers State Police Command, further reiterated its commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents.
