The Delta State Police Command has announced the neutralization of four suspected kidnappers linked to the abduction and murder of realtor Miss Esther Ojoh.
In a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, the suspects were apprehended following an intelligence-led operation ordered by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda.
The operation was launched after the kidnapping and subsequent release of a doctor in Issele-Uku, who regained his freedom after a ransom of N15 million was paid.
The investigation led to the arrest of Abubakar Usman, also known as Shehu, alleged to be the gang leader, along with three other accomplices. The suspects were reportedly involved in several high-profile kidnappings, including that of Miss Ojoh, whose body was discovered in Ibusa.
According to the police, the suspects were killed during a gun battle after one of them confessed and led operatives to the gang’s hideout. During the confrontation, police recovered three AK-47 rifles and 90 rounds of live ammunition.
The gang has also been linked to the kidnapping and murder of Mr. Godwin Anuka in Ogwashi-Uku.
The commissioner commended the operatives for their bravery and dedication, describing their actions as commendable and worthy of emulation.
