The Edo State Police Command has arrested four suspected cultists and recovered firearms during a late-night operation in Uromi, in a continued crackdown on violent crime across the state.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, the operation was carried out in the early hours of March 24, 2026, following credible intelligence.
Police operatives reportedly stormed identified locations at about 2:00 a.m., leading to the arrest of four suspects: Solomon Oboigbe (27), Fidelis Omale (26), Julius Oseyomon (64), and Abraham Erumosele Momo (54), all residents of different quarters within Uromi.
During the operation, officers recovered four pump-action guns, nine live cartridges, and three expended cartridges from the suspects.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are members of the Eiye Confraternity, with the recovered weapons believed to have been acquired illegally.
The Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, commended the operatives for their swift and professional response, reiterating the Command’s determination to sustain its offensive against cultism and other criminal activities, as well as the ongoing mop-up of illegal firearms in the state.
Police authorities confirmed that the suspects have since been arraigned in court following the conclusion of investigations.
The Command also called on members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to assist security agencies, assuring that all reports will be handled with strict confidentiality.
