The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially confirmed Ambassador Umar Damagum as the substantive National Chairman of the party.
Damagum, who had been serving in an acting capacity since 2023, received full affirmation during the PDP’s 102nd NEC meeting in Abuja.
In his remarks following the confirmation, Damagum expressed deep appreciation to the party’s leadership and members for their confidence and continued support.
He described the confirmation as a recognition not just of his individual efforts, but of the collective work and resilience of the PDP leadership.
“Today’s decision by the NEC reflects the unity and shared vision that continue to drive our party forward,” Damagum stated.
He acknowledged the challenges faced during his time as acting chairman but praised the party’s stability, attributing it to internal collaboration and commitment to democratic values.
Damagum reaffirmed his dedication to the PDP’s core principles and pledged to work tirelessly to strengthen the party ahead of future electoral contests. He also extended gratitude to party members across Nigeria and in the diaspora for their steadfast loyalty.
The confirmation as noticed worldCass247News, marks a significant step for the PDP as it prepares for upcoming political engagements and continues efforts to reposition itself as a strong opposition force nationally.
