The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Barrister Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, has called for a comprehensive review of Nigeria’s security architecture, stressing the urgent need to strengthen safety measures across the country.
Turaki made the appeal on Thursday during a visit by members of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) to the Niger State Government.
The delegation was in the state to commiserate with Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago over the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers from St. Mary School, Papiri, in Agwara Local Government Area.
Describing security as a matter of national concern, the PDP Chairman urged political leaders and security agencies to work collaboratively to find lasting solutions.
“We understand what you are going through, and we stand with you during this very difficult time. “We may be an opposition party, but we believe in responsible opposition. At times like this, leaders must set aside political differences and unite to address pressing security challenges,”Turaki said..
He commended the Niger State Government and security operatives for their ongoing efforts to secure the safe return of the abducted students and teachers.
Governor Bago expressed gratitude to the PDP leadership for what he called a demonstration of “humanity, solidarity, and commitment to democracy.”
The PDP delegation also included former Kano State Governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, alongside other members of the National Working Committee.
