The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to a leaked consensus list reportedly drawn up by the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as evidence of “confusion and desperation” within the opposition party.
In a statement signed by the State Chairman, Sunday Bisi, and released through the party’s media unit, the PDP said the development highlights the APC’s continued reliance on “politics of imposition and self-interest,” contrasting it with what it called the “people-driven governance” of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
“The leaked list only confirms that the APC remains trapped in old habits, disconnected from the realities and aspirations of Osun people,” the statement read. “Osun has moved forward under the purposeful and people-oriented leadership of Governor Adeleke.”
The ruling party maintained that the 2026/2027 general elections in the state would not be about “noise or propaganda” but a “celebration of performance, trust, and results.”
“Osun people know the difference between hardship and hope. They have tested both parties and proudly stand with the PDP the party that has restored light, dignity, and direction to governance through IMOLE,” the statement added.
According to the PDP, its growing influence in the state is rooted in the “trust and confidence” of everyday citizens. It credited governor Adeleke with earning widespread support across social and professional groups, citing achievements in education, agriculture, workers’ welfare, and infrastructure.
“From teachers to farmers, from market women to artisans, from students to civil servants, the message is the same: the PDP government is working, and Osun is breathing again,” the party said.
The statement further highlighted improvements under Adeleke’s administration, including regular payment of salaries and pensions, and renewed confidence in the state’s public service. “People can now plan their lives because they trust the system again,” it noted.
Dismissing the APC’s consensus arrangement as a “recycled list of tired and deceitful politicians,” the PDP said it welcomed the opposition’s latest move, describing it as a “sign of continued disarray.”
“What they call consensus is confusion packaged in the old way. The people have not forgotten their years of deception. Osun will not go backward,” the party declared.
Reaffirming its confidence ahead of the next electoral cycle, the PDP assured residents of continued focus on good governance and people-centered policies.
“Our performance speaks for us. Our unity gives us strength. And the people’s love keeps us going. Come 2026/2027, the PDP will win again not because of politics, but because of performance and the conviction that Osun must never return to the years of waste and sorrow,” the statement concluded.
