The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the recent announcement by the Omoluabi Progressives group regarding their decision to leave the party, describing it as inconsequential and ineffective.
In a press statement released on January 27, 2025, the Osun APC declared that the group’s announcement was redundant, as its members had effectively left the party over three years ago.
The party referred to the group’s declaration as “good riddance to bad rubbish,” emphasizing that most of its members had either been suspended or expelled from the APC in 2022.
“How can someone who has already been suspended or expelled declare they are leaving? It defies all logic,” the statement read, labeling the announcement as superfluous and absurd.
The APC accused the Omoluabi Progressives of working against the party’s principles and aligning with opposition forces, particularly the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). It criticized the group for disrespecting party elders and attempting to destabilize the party.
“We have no interest in retaining these political irritants who abandoned the party’s principles long ago,” said Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the APC’s Director of Media and Information. “Their so-called exit is nothing more than the beginning of their political demise.”
The APC expressed confidence that any attempts by the group to form or join another political party would end in failure, predicting their complete irrelevance by the 2026 governorship election.
The party also advised supporters of the Omoluabi Progressives to reconsider their alignment with what it called a “rudderless group,” warning that doing so would lead to regret.
“The Osun APC remains strong, united, and focused on serving the people of Osun State effectively,” the statement concluded.
The party reaffirmed its resilience in the face of what it described as the “antics of frustrated and expired politicians,” asserting that it remains the party of the people in the state.
