The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Adamawa State Command, has arrested five persons suspected of involvement in armed robbery activities in Wuro-Hausa, Adamawa State.
The suspects were apprehended at about 3:00 a.m. following actionable intelligence received by security personnel and a swift intervention involving NSCDC operatives and vigilant members of the community.
The arrest, according to the Command, underscores the growing importance of community-based intelligence and cooperation between residents and security agencies in tackling criminal activities.
Dangerous weapons suspected to have been intended for criminal operations were also recovered from the suspects during the operation.
The development has heightened attention on the role of timely information in preventing criminal activities, particularly during the night when communities may be more vulnerable to attacks.
The NSCDC Public Relations Officer in Adamawa State, Nyako Amidu Baba, confirmed the arrest and said the suspects were currently in the custody of the Corps.
Baba explained that the suspects were undergoing preliminary investigation to establish their identities, activities and possible links to other criminal operations.
He added that they would subsequently be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and prosecution in accordance with extant laws.
The spokesman commended residents of Wuro-Hausa whose vigilance and cooperation contributed to the successful operation.
He urged members of the public to remain alert and promptly report suspicious movements, persons or activities to security agencies.
According to him, timely and credible information remains critical to enabling security personnel to respond quickly to emerging threats and prevent crimes before they are committed.
Baba reaffirmed the commitment of the NSCDC to protecting lives and property and maintaining public safety across Adamawa State.
He said the Corps would continue to strengthen its collaboration with communities and other security agencies to prevent and combat criminal activities.
The Command further appealed to residents to provide credible and timely intelligence that could assist security agencies in identifying, tracking and apprehending criminal elements.
It stressed that effective partnership between security agencies and members of the public was essential to sustaining peace, security and stability across the state.
The NSCDC, however, cautioned against prejudging the suspects, stressing that they remained innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
