The Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF), has suspended seven players from Edo and Delta Rugby Clubs over disciplinary breaches during the 2023/24 league matches held at Adolor College, Benin City.
The decision, follows an investigation by the NRFF Disciplinary Committee into misconduct involving a fight during the matches.
The incident, referenced as NRFF/NSC/FEAD/CON/VOL.1/085, prompted the federation to take firm action to uphold the integrity of the league.
The suspended players are:Eselekhomwen Nelson Hope (Edo RFC), Isidor Okafor (Delta RFC),Christian Eleberi (Edo RFC), Shunamite Okorie (Edo RFC), Abovwo Imoisi (Edo RFC),Chioma Nwankpa (Edo RFC),Mene Augustar (Edo RFC)
Each player has been handed a two-match suspension, beginning with the Super Six playoffs and carrying over into the 2024/25 regular league season.
The NRFF reaffirmed its commitment to promoting discipline and ensuring a fair, competitive environment for all players and teams.
