The Nigeria Police Force has taken custody of a fugitive wanted in connection with the abduction and suspected murder of a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer and her young daughter in Osun State.
Victor Benjamin Fejemirokun, who fled Nigeria shortly after the incident, was handed over to Nigerian authorities on Monday in Accra, Ghana. His capture followed a coordinated multi-agency effort involving the Ghana Police Service and INTERPOL’s National Central Bureau (NCB) in Abuja.
According to police sources, Ghanaian authorities arrested Fejemirokun after receiving intelligence that he was hiding within their jurisdiction. They alerted the Nigeria Police Force, prompting an INTERPOL team from Abuja to travel to Accra to complete the transfer.
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun expressed condolences to the family of the victims and pledged a thorough investigation. He said the suspect would be formally charged after ongoing inquiries are concluded. The IGP also commended the Ghana Police Service for what he described as their professionalism and cooperation throughout the operation.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to pursuing offenders across borders and strengthening international partnerships to combat transnational crime.
