The North East Zonal Director of the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW), Major General Abubakar Adamu (Rtd), has lauded the efforts of the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army and Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), for their significant contributions to improving security across Taraba State.
General Adamu made the commendation during a courtesy visit to the Brigade Headquarters in Jalingo, as part of a regional sensitization tour aimed at enhancing collaboration in the fight against the proliferation of small arms and light weapons.
He praised the Brigade’s balanced approach to tackling insecurity, noting its effective use of both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies in addressing complex security challenges in the region.
“The role of the military in stabilizing regions affected by insecurity cannot be overstated. We are here to support and collaborate in every way possible,” General Adamu stated, reaffirming the NCCSALW’s commitment to working with security agencies through intelligence sharing, public awareness, and community-level engagement.
In response, the Commander of 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, welcomed the visiting team and expressed appreciation for the recognition. He assured the Centre of the Brigade’s continued commitment to curbing the spread of illegal arms.
“Tackling the menace of illegal arms requires synergy among all stakeholders, including local communities, whose vigilance and timely reporting are crucial to ongoing security efforts,” Brigadier General Uwa said.
The visit, as noticed by WorldClass247News, underscores the growing emphasis on inter-agency cooperation in addressing arms proliferation and restoring peace to Nigeria’s conflict-prone regions.
