Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, on Friday flagged off the All Progressives Congress (APC) electronic membership registration exercise for the Northern and Central zones of the state.
The exercise, which took place at the Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo, drew party leaders, members and supporters from across the two zones.
Speaking at the event, Governor Kefas said the e-registration was part of deliberate efforts by the APC to reposition the party and ensure inclusiveness in its activities. He noted that the exercise would allow for the electronic revalidation of all party members.
The governor assured members that the registration process would be conducted smoothly and without hindrance, adding that he would personally monitor the exercise to ensure its success.
He urged women and youths to participate actively, stressing that only duly registered members would be eligible to take part in party activities.
In his welcome address, the APC State Chairman, Barrister Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi, described the e-registration exercise as critical to the party’s growth. He said it would provide accurate data on members eligible to participate in party affairs and internal elections.
El-Sudi commended Governor Kefas for his prompt response to the party’s needs, noting that the governor ensured the provision of necessary equipment across the state to guarantee a successful exercise. He added that the initiative would strengthen and improve the APC’s membership database.
Also speaking, the coordinators of the e-registration exercise for the Northern Zone, Kamalludeen Adamu, and the Central Zone said personnel had been adequately trained to handle the process.
They confirmed that the exercise was already underway and called on party members across the state to turn out in large numbers to register.
