Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has strongly condemned the killing of two residents and the abduction of four others in Pindiga town, Akko Local Government Area, describing the attack as “barbaric, cruel and utterly unacceptable.”
The victims, Yusuf Daddy and his sister, Faiza, were reportedly murdered in their home in the early hours of Saturday. During the same incident, four other persons, said to be women and children, were abducted by the assailants.
In a statement, the governor said the killing of innocent citizens and the abduction of vulnerable persons amounted to a heinous crime that threatens the peace and security Gombe State has worked hard to sustain.
He described the attack as a direct assault on the collective conscience of the people, adding that the government and residents of the state share in the grief of the affected families and the entire Pindiga community.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya disclosed that the Nigeria Police, in collaboration with other security agencies, have commenced intensive investigations and a manhunt for those responsible. He directed that all necessary resources be deployed to apprehend the perpetrators, rescue the abducted victims unharmed and ensure that justice is served.
Reiterating his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, the governor warned criminals and their collaborators that Gombe State would not be a safe haven for criminal activities. He said security operations would be intensified, intelligence gathering strengthened and collaboration with local communities deepened.
The governor urged residents to remain calm, vigilant and cooperative with security agencies, assuring the people of Pindiga and the wider state of the government’s resolve to take decisive action to restore peace and safety.
He also extended condolences to the families of the deceased and the Pindiga Emirate, while praying for strength for the bereaved families and the safe and speedy rescue of those abducted.
