As the holy month of Ramadan commences, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, who also serves as Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF), has called on Muslims to embrace prayers, unity, and acts of generosity.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the governor urged the Muslim community to uphold the core values of Ramadan, including empathy, love, sacrifice, and forgiveness. He emphasized the importance of promoting peace and kindness while encouraging the wealthy to support the less privileged.
Governor Yahaya also called on the people of Gombe State to remain law-abiding and maintain peaceful coexistence, describing it as essential for progress and stability. He highlighted Ramadan as a time for spiritual renewal, urging believers to dedicate themselves to prayer for the peace, development, and prosperity of the state and the nation.
Expressing optimism about Nigeria’s future, he reassured citizens that with prayers, patriotism, and collective effort, the country would overcome its current challenges. He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and fellow governors for their commitment to addressing security and socio-economic issues.
The governor also urged citizens to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and report any suspicious activities to help ensure peace and security. Additionally, he called on Islamic scholars to use their Tafsir sessions and teachings to promote unity, peaceful coexistence, and devotion throughout Ramadan and beyond.
Reaffirming his administration’s dedication to the well-being of Gombe residents, Governor Yahaya assured that efforts to sustain peace and security in the state would continue. He also announced the establishment of Ramadan Palliative Committees to ensure the swift distribution of relief materials, aiming to ease the economic burden on residents during the fasting period.
