The Commissioner of Police in Gombe State, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, has ordered increased security measures and the adoption of intelligence-led policing across the state ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities.
The directive was issued during his maiden security conference with Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Heads of Departments, aimed at reviewing and strengthening security arrangements for the festive season.
Chuso directed senior officers to intensify patrols, boost police visibility and ensure effective coordination of security operations to safeguard lives and property.
He stressed the importance of intelligence-driven policing and swift response to emergencies, particularly in worship centres, markets, motor parks, recreational centres and other public places.
The police commissioner also called on residents to remain vigilant and act responsibly during the celebrations. He advised the public to avoid unnecessary night movements, comply with traffic regulations, avoid reckless driving and refrain from carrying dangerous weapons.
He further urged members of the public to promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station and to cooperate fully with security personnel deployed across the state.
Reaffirming the command’s commitment to maintaining peace and order, Chuso assured residents of proactive, intelligence-based and community-oriented policing throughout the festive period.
A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, said the Gombe State Police Command is fully prepared to ensure a safe and crime-free Yuletide for residents of the state.
