On a bright and memorable day at Sagamu High School in Ogun State, the Chief Executive Officer of Megastar Media Communications and President of the Society of Digital Newspaper Owners of Nigeria (SDNON) returned to his alma mater to lay the foundation for a solar-powered toilet facility, a project designed to improve sanitation and promote sustainable development.
The initiative forms part of Dr. Adeniyi’s growing portfolio of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects and represents his second major intervention in this area, following the successful execution of a similar solar-powered sanitation project in Abuja. For him, the choice of Sagamu High School carries deep emotional significance, as it reflects a desire to uplift the institution that helped shape his early life and career.
The foundation-laying ceremony was a gathering of tradition, purpose, and community spirit. It was graced by the presence of the Ewusi of Makun, Sagamu, His Majesty Oba Timothy Akinsola, who offered royal blessings and traditional prayers for the smooth execution and timely completion of the project. Community leaders, school administrators, and stakeholders also turned out in numbers, underscoring the importance of the initiative to the local community.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Adeniyi emphasized his long-standing commitment to education, sanitation, and sustainable development. He noted that access to clean and functional sanitation facilities is essential to the wellbeing of students and staff, stressing that the solar-powered toilet facility would help improve hygiene standards while also embracing renewable energy solutions.
“This project is about creating a healthier and more conducive learning environment,” he said, adding that sustainable infrastructure plays a vital role in supporting academic excellence and student dignity.
School authorities and community leaders praised the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful, particularly at a time when many public schools are in need of basic infrastructure support. They lauded Dr. Adeniyi for setting an example of purposeful leadership and meaningful engagement with grassroots development.
When completed, the solar-powered toilet facility is expected to significantly enhance sanitation and hygiene conditions at Sagamu High School, benefiting students and staff alike.
Beyond the physical structure, the project stands as a symbol of hope, responsibility, and the enduring bond between an individual and the community that nurtured him.
