The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Rivers State Government have unveiled a new collaborative framework aimed at curbing car theft and strengthening road safety operations across the state.
The initiative was formally launched on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the Government House in Port Harcourt, where Governor Siminalayi Fubara, was invested as Patron if the Special Marshals by the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Shehu Mohammed.
The ceremony, as noticed by the WorldClass247News, formed part of the Corps Marshal’s official visit to flag off the 2025 Ember Months National Town Hall Meeting.
Speaking during the investiture, Governor Fubara announced plans by his administration, through the Ministry of Transport, to establish a comprehensive vehicle tracking and data sharing system in partnership with the FRSC.
According to him, the initiative is designed to enhance security coordination, simplify vehicle identification, and ensure swift response in cases of car theft and other related crimes.
“This collaboration will not only boost public confidence in our transport system but also strengthen intelligence sharing between the FRSC and relevant security agencies,” the governor said.
In his remarks, Corps Marshal Mohammed commended the Rivers State Government for its consistent support to the FRSC, describing Governor Fubara’s investiture as “a recognition of his unwavering commitment to safety, accountability, and good governance.”
The Corps Marshal also joined the governor to flag off the 2025 Ember Months National Town Hall Meeting, a public sensitization programme aimed at promoting responsible driving and reducing road traffic crashes during the festive season.
The dual event in Port Harcourt marks a significant milestone in the growing partnership between the Rivers State Government and the FRSC combining technology, safety, and inter-agency collaboration to protect lives and property across the state.
