Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has announced plans to employ 12,000 youths into various sectors of the state civil service by December 2025, as part of his administration’s drive to promote job creation, inclusive governance, and sustainable development.

Fintiri made the disclosure during a courtesy visit by the Adamawa State chapter of the Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN) at the Government House in Yola.

He explained that the new recruitment initiative would include 5,000 teaching positions, 2,000 healthcare roles under the Health Services Management Board including doctors and nurses and 5,000 general civil service positions already in process.

“We are also taking steps to establish a School of Technology and Entrepreneurship to equip our youths with practical skills for business and self-reliance,” the Governor added.

Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the lives of women and young people, noting that they remain central to the state’s development blueprint.

“When I decided to contest in 2019, I made it clear that women and youths would be central to our development agenda, and we have kept that promise,” he said.

The governor praised what he described as the “Fintiri magic,” a term now associated with rapid development in the state, saying prudent leadership has propelled Adamawa into the top five states in terms of progress despite lacking oil or gold resources.

Turning to recent flooding incidents that have claimed lives and displaced communities, Governor Fintiri stressed that his government would not compromise on safety standards or accountability.

“We are determined to remove all illegal structures obstructing waterways. No one will stop me from taking decisions that will save lives,” he stated.

He also dismissed speculation that the Fufore Dam was responsible for the flooding, noting that there was no evidence of overflow.

On education, Fintiri said his administration’s reforms are yielding positive outcomes, with improved school infrastructure and better academic performance among students.

“Our children now attend schools that are conducive to learning and are doing better in examinations,” he said. “We will continue to invest in their future through quality education.”

In her remarks, WOWICAN Chairperson Mrs. Helen Jemes lauded the governor for his inclusive policies and developmental achievements. She pledged the association’s continued support and prayed for the success of his administration.

Governor Fintiriurged the Christian women leaders to sustain their prayers and support, pledging that fairness, equity, and security will remain the pillars of his leadership.
