Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive growth, security, and unity across the state.
Governor Fintiri gave the assurance on Wednesday when he received a delegation from the Hoba Chiefdom on a thank-you visit at the Government House in Yola.
Addressing the delegation, the governor underscored the importance of collective responsibility in building a cohesive and progressive society, urging citizens to take pride in their shared identity.
Reflecting on strides in education, Fintiri noted that his administration inherited a high number of out-of-school children when he assumed office in 2019, but said strategic reforms and investments have significantly reversed the trend.
“Today, Adamawa is excelling educationally at both regional and national levels,” he stated.
The governor also raised concern over perennial flooding in the state, calling for the support of traditional rulers and residents in tackling the challenge. He said the government will not hesitate to demolish illegal structures obstructing waterways in all 21 local government areas to prevent future disasters.
Earlier in his remarks, the Tol Hoba, His Majesty Alheri Bulus Nyako, commended the governor for restoring development and hope to the Hoba Kingdom. He described Fintiri as “a valuable asset” to the state and pledged the continued support of his people.
The Chairman of the Hoba Elders Forum, Engineer Markus Gundiri, who delivered the welcome address, said the visit was to appreciate the governor’s developmental efforts in the Hoba Chiefdom, congratulate him on his recent honorary Doctorate Degree from the University of Port Harcourt, celebrate the Super Falcons’ victory under an Adamawa-born coach, and express condolences over recent flood-related tragedies in the state.
