The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has welcomed a recent Court of Appeal judgment, describing it as a victory for constitutional order, internal democracy, and the rule of law within the party.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the state chapter congratulated Dr. Tanimu Turaki (SAN), members of the Interim National Working Committee, and PDP members nationwide on what it called a significant legal victory.
According to the party, the appellate court ruled that a purported caretaker committee lacked legal and constitutional backing, noting that it had no valid mandate from the PDP. The judgment also upheld disciplinary actions taken against individuals accused of engaging in activities considered contrary to the party’s constitution and interests.
The Ekiti PDP said the ruling had provided clarity on the party’s leadership structure and created an opportunity for reconciliation, unity, and renewed efforts to strengthen the opposition party ahead of future elections.
Signed by the state Chairman of the PDP, Tunji Odeyemi, the party urged its members, stakeholders, and supporters across the country to support the Dr. Tanimu Turaki-led Interim National Working Committee and remain committed to the party’s vision and objectives.
It further described the PDP as Nigeria’s leading democratic platform and a credible alternative for promoting good governance, economic growth, and national development.
