The member representing Bali/Gassol Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Jafar Yakubu Chiroma, on Wednesday declared that no resident of his constituency would lose their life due to lack of access to healthcare.
Chiroma made the pledge in Garba Chede, located in Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State, during the rollout of mini ambulances distributed to primary healthcare centres across several wards.
The initiative, according to the lawmaker, is aimed at addressing long-standing emergency response challenges in rural communities, where residents often struggle to access timely medical care.
“For too long, our people have suffered preventable deaths because of lack of emergency transportation. These ambulances will save mothers in labour, accident victims, and sick children. No longer will anyone die simply because they could not reach a clinic on time,” Chiroma said.
He noted that similar distributions had earlier been carried out in eight other wards, describing the programme as part of a broader effort to strengthen healthcare delivery throughout the constituency.
In addition to the health intervention, Chiroma commissioned a two-kilometre road in the area, which he said would ease transportation and improve access to markets, schools, and hospitals—particularly during the rainy season when mobility is often hindered.
The lawmaker also inaugurated a 6,000-litre capacity borehole in Garba Chede to enhance access to clean water. He said the facility would serve thousands of residents, reduce waterborne diseases, and ease the burden on women and children who travel long distances in search of potable water.
Chiroma expressed appreciation to the state governor, Agbu Kefas, as well as other government officials, traditional rulers, and stakeholders for their support in executing the projects.
Addressing residents of Kaigama Ward and the wider Bali/Gassol constituency, he described the projects as fulfilled promises and assured that more development initiatives were underway.
“These are kept promises,” he said. “But we will not stop here. Together, we will continue to deliver the dividends of democracy.”
Meanwhile, governor Kefas, represented at the event by Abubakar Bawa, the Taraba State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, urged voters to reject politicians who exploit religion for political gain.
He also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to securing victory at all levels in the 2027 general elections.
