The Commander of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa Chidiebere, has cautioned soldiers under his command against complacency and arrogance, stressing that such conduct undermines the core values of military service.
General Chidiebere issued the warning on Wednesday in Jalingo, Taraba State, during the decoration ceremony of 42 newly promoted personnel, including an Army Warrant Officer (AWO).
He urged the beneficiaries to demonstrate humility, dedication, and integrity as they take on their new roles, describing the high number of promotions within the brigade as a rare privilege. The commander also commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General W. Shaibu, for approving the promotions.
Reaffirming the principles that guide military operations, General Chidiebere emphasized that professionalism, discipline, respect for human rights, and the protection of lives and property remain non-negotiable responsibilities for every soldier.
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted personnel, Army Warrant Officer Anekwe Livinus expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Army for the elevation. He pledged steadfast loyalty and commitment to duty, praising the Brigade Commander’s leadership and assuring that the beneficiaries would continue to represent the Army honourably in their various postings.
