A high powered delegate from Benue state government, have visited communities in Kwande local government council to assess the devastation caused by a recent attack by suspected herdsmen.

The violent assault, as gathered by WorldClass247News,claimed several lives and as well led to massive destruction of goods worth millions of Nairia.

The affected communities, among which include Agura (Yaav Council Ward) and Gaambe, Mbamo, and Mbaav (Mbadura Council Ward), are observed to be now grappling with displacement and insecurity.

During the visit, community members expressed deep concerns over the security situation. A resident of Agura, Terkaa Billo, pleaded for increased security presence to allow displaced families to return to their homes and livelihoods.

In response, Sir James Iorpuu reassured residents that Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia had directed the immediate provision of relief materials, including food and non-food items, to assist those affected. He also pledged government support for the burial of victims and medical treatment for the injured.

Traditional ruler Chief Hyacinth Baver and the President of the Turan Development Association (TUDA), Mr. Terkula Festus Iorkyaa, commended the government’s prompt response. They urged community members to remain calm and allow authorities to handle the crisis through official channels.

Addressing the community on behalf of state governor, Chief Joseph Harr emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and respecting traditional institutions, which serve as the link between the people and the government.

As the government continues its response efforts, residents remain hopeful for enhanced security measures and a long-term solution to the recurring attacks.

The Benue State government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety of all citizens and providing necessary support to displaced families.
