Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), months after resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Atiku confirmed his defection on Monday through a post on his X account, where he shared a photograph of himself holding his new party membership card with the caption, “It’s official.”
The former PDP presidential candidate exited the party in July, attributing his departure to unresolved internal crises that had plagued the opposition platform.
His move to the ADC, as observed by the WorldClass247News, comes as the party positions itself as a unifying force for major opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The ADC has in recent weeks intensified efforts to broaden its political base, urging interested politicians to formally align with its vision by registering as members.
The party has signaled its intention to bring together prominent opposition leaders including Peter Obi, Babachir Lawal, Rotimi Amaechi, and others as it prepares for what is expected to be a competitive presidential contest against incumbent President Bola Tinubu.
