Benue state governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has inaugurated a committee to review and restructure the mandates and supervisory responsibilities of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state civil service.

The committee, inaugurated on Monday at the Government House in Makurdi, is expected to make recommendations aimed at improving efficiency,

strengthening institutional coordination and enhancing service delivery across the state government system.

Governor Alia said the initiative was part of his administration’s efforts to restore operational efficiency and establish clearer structures within the civil service.

He charged the committee, headed by the Deputy Governor, Barr. Sam Ode, to review the mandates of existing ministries, bureaus, commissions and government-owned companies and recommend appropriate alignments to ensure effective supervision.

The governor said the committee would also examine the roles of political appointees, including Special Advisers and Assistants, with a view to identifying and addressing overlapping functions within the government structure.

“This is a very serious assignment and I urge you to take it very seriously,” Alia said.

He explained that the exercise was designed to restore standard operating procedures, strengthen institutional values and improve the quality and effectiveness of personnel within the civil service.

The governor described the assignment as a call to service and assured members of the committee of the government’s support to enable them carry out their responsibilities effectively.

Responding on behalf of the committee, Barr. Bernard Hom, SAN, thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in the members and pledged that they would undertake the assignment with diligence and commitment.

The committee comprises selected distinguished indigenes of Benue State and has been given two months to submit its report for consideration by the state government.

The restructuring exercise, as gathered by WorldClass247News, is expected to provide clearer institutional responsibilities, reduce duplication of functions and strengthen coordination among government ministries, departments and agencies.
