The Adamawa State Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its sustained campaign against Shilla gangsterism and other violent crimes, leading to the arrest of three suspected offenders in separate operations across the Yola metropolis.

Police authorities revealed that operatives attached to the Doubeli Divisional Police Headquarters apprehended a 22-year-old suspect, Abdulmalik Mohammed, following an alleged robbery attack on a passenger aboard a commercial tricycle, popularly known as Keke Napep, along the Doubeli Bye-Pass on June 12, 2026.

According to police reports, the suspect, a resident of the Zango area, allegedly attacked the victim with a cutlass before dispossessing him of his mobile phone. The victim reportedly raised an alarm, attracting members of the public who pursued and apprehended the suspect.

Police officers swiftly responded to the scene, rescuing Mohammed from an attempted mob attack and taking him into custody for further investigation.

Preliminary investigations have reportedly linked the suspect to a series of theft-related incidents within Yola metropolis, including the alleged theft of a sewing machine at Tsohon Kasuwa.

Investigators are currently working to identify and apprehend other individuals believed to be connected to the suspect’s criminal activities.

In a separate operation conducted on June 14, police operatives on confidence-building patrol arrested two suspected members of a Shilla gang identified as Abba Abdullahi, 17, and Abdulrahman Saidu, 16.

The suspects were allegedly found in possession of dangerous knives, which police believe were intended for use in criminal activities during a birthday celebration within the metropolis.

Reacting to the successful operations, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State,  Kabir Umar Hassan, commended the officers involved for their swift response, vigilance, and professionalism.

He reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment to dismantling Shilla gangs and other criminal networks threatening peace and security across the state.

The police command also urged residents to continue supporting law enforcement efforts by providing timely and credible information on suspicious activities, assuring members of the public that all reports would be treated with strict confidentiality.

The latest arrests highlight the command’s intensified efforts to combat criminality and strengthen public safety in Yola North, Yola South, and other parts of Adamawa State as authorities continue their drive to rid communities of violent gangs and related criminal activities.
