Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, if Adamawa state, has commended officers and men of the Nigerian Army for their patriotism, courage, and sacrifices in safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity.
The governor gave the commendation during the Nigerian Army Social Activities held at the Gibson Jalo Cantonment in Yola.
Represented by his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta, Governor Fintiri expressed appreciation to the military for its efforts in maintaining peace and security in the state. He noted that the gratitude of the government and people of Adamawa goes beyond words, describing the sacrifices of military personnel as deeply respected.
“We are committed to ensuring that those who protect us are, in turn, appreciated and provided for,” Farauta said.
She reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to supporting the military in carrying out its constitutional responsibilities, pledging continued collaboration with military authorities to improve infrastructure, particularly road networks within the barracks.
Farauta also urged personnel to use the occasion to rejuvenate their spirits in preparation for the demanding task of securing communities and protecting the state’s borders.
In his welcome address, the Commander of the 23 Armoured Brigade, Yola, Brigadier General Amechi Agwu, acknowledged the support of the state government to the brigade and other security formations.
He reiterated his commitment to advancing the transformation of the Nigerian Army into a more professional, adaptable, combat-ready, and resilient force capable of operating effectively within joint and multi-agency environments.
The event featured cultural dance performances, a tug-of-war contest between personnel of the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force, and the ceremonial lighting of a campfire at the parade ground.
